PODS is currently run by a Management Team of three people, plus a team of other volunteers.
Carolyn Spring is a freelance writer and has Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)
as a result of organised abuse in childhood. After studying at Cambridge University,
she worked for a number of years in Children's Social Care supporting at-
Carolyn currently runs TASC (Trauma and Abuse Support Centre) and Spring Ministries, and is Chair of START (Survivors Trauma and Abuse Recovery Trust), a charity formed in 2011 to support work in the fields of trauma and abuse recovery.
As Director of PODS, Carolyn:
- has responsibility for strategic oversight of PODS
- has responsibility for writing and delivering training to survivors, supporters and therapy and healthcare professionals
- writes articles for publication including commissioned pieces for journals
- is currently writing a book on DID
- is responsible for editing and publishing Multiple Parts, the PODS magazine, three times a year
- oversees, designs and maintains all the projects' websites, including content writing, design, and technical administration
- delivers social media marketing and networking for the projects
- oversees the IT infrastructure
- oversees the financial administration of the project
- oversees the production of resources, including graphic design
- liaises and networks with other organisations.
Rob has a degree in Biology and a Postgraduate Certificate of Education from Swansea
University. He worked full-
As Director of PODS, Rob:
- manages the PODS helpline
- deals with all frontline enquiries
- provides one-
to- one support to a number of individuals via phone, email or in person - delivers some of the PODS training alongside Carolyn
- assists with the administration of training days.
Karen has Dissociative Identity Disorder as a result of childhood abuse. She has a First Class degree in Health Development with further graduate study in Psychology and has worked in health and charity settings in project management and coordination roles. She has had responsibility for managing and leading teams; developing policies and procedures; event organisation; and administration. She is Project Manager for PODS and also acts as Project Liaison Officer between START and the projects it supports.
As Project Manager for PODS, Karen:
- oversees the administration of training days and conferences
- manages the volunteer team, especially for training days
- ensures project development, eg by enhancing PODS' web presence internationally and developing links with other major national charities
- oversees evaluation, monitoring and reporting
- provides research and academic support to Carolyn's training and writing
- is on the editorial team and provides quality control for the website and Multiple Parts
- oversees the administration systems, with particular responsibility for the development and maintenance of numerous databases
- produces and oversees the implementation of policies and procedures.
